Acupuncture is often combined with non-needle therapies which enhance its effectiveness. In many cases, these may be used as stand-alone treatments.
Pain Neutralization Technique (PNT)
PNT involves gentle tissue manipulation which instantly "turns off" the nerve-based reflexes that perpetuate trigger points, joint and muscle pain. Many patients report immediate improvement as the treatment is being administered! It is especially useful in eliminating chronic pain and improving other health conditions caused by such pain.
Tui Na
Tui na means "pushing grasping," and is a powerful form of Chinese medical bodywork. As an integral part of Chinese Medicine, tui na improves the flow of qi and blood through the vessels and is particularly effective for conditions involving muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints, such as structural misalignment, orthopedic problems and sports injuries.
Cupping
Cupping is an ancient technique, used in many cultures, in which a special cup is applied to the skin and held in place by suction. The suction draws superficial tissue into the cup, which may either be left in place or moved along an area of the body. Cupping brings fresh blood to the tissues, relieves muscle spasms, helps increase blood circulation and can be used to reduce pain and increase range-of-motion in injured or impaired joints.
MPS
Micro-current Point Stimulation. The MPS device applies concentrated DC micro-current to therapeutically-active acupuncture and trigger points for the purpose of relaxing muscles, calming the nervous system and releasing endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers. MPS is especially well-suited for treating children or anyone who may be averse to receiving traditional needle-based acupuncture.
