What Does Acupuncture Feel Like?
Many first-time patients are concerned that acupuncture needles will feel like hypodermic injections at the doctor’s office. They won't. We use hair-thin, flexible needles that you will hardly feel when they are inserted. Patients will then often describe a momentary heaviness, or pressure, or a spreading, traveling feeling. You may also feel a mild tingling or "electrical" sensation moving down the meridian pathways, though this is less common. Most patients find these acupuncture sensations deeply satisfying and leave the treatment feeling physically and mentally relaxed.
Acupuncture treatment creates deep relaxation
in both mind and body.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The benefits of acupuncture treatment are cumulative as each treatment builds upon the previous one. Although some people may experience a dramatic improvement in their symptoms with the very first treatment, a number of sessions over a period of time is usually necessary to build this cumulative effect and to correct the underlying imbalances that are creating your symptoms. Generally speaking, acute conditions may be resolved with only a few treatments while chronic conditions usually take longer to correct and manage.
